Introduction:

We received a series of simply fabulous collages which we could not turn away. All done by Rotterdam-based artist, Iris van Gelder, we would love to share them with you as part of our feature section. So enjoy this first one, as part of an ongoing series. We love to see how fashion can inspire each person’s perspective. So, enjoy the visual beauty of “Travelled The Sea”.

Backstory:

My inspiration is the hit song “Sweet Dreams” by The Eurythmics. The lyrics I travelled the world and the seven seas was playing in my mind while I was creating this collage. It started with the model that looks through the glasses (binoculars). The captain’s look made me want to create this whole Atlantic Ocean ambience.

*Iris loves making collages. This creative process allows her to rethink existing images and create her own world with them. Sometimes she’s critical and other times she wholly embraces the consumer society. Forms and shapes are really important to Iris, as they are like pieces to her puzzle. Check her works out at fasttrash.tumblr.com.
