Haute Austria.

Vienna Austria brought to the runways a wonderful collection of designers. Here are some who really stood out for us!

Kamila Gawronska-Kasperska

Having studied in Warsaw, Poland and honed her couture skills as an award-winning costume designer, Kamila Gawronska-Kasperkska moved fully into the fashion design world with ease. She continued to collect awards as well as showcase her collections in various countries including Holland, Germany and Poland. She brings her Fall/Winter 2013 storyboard with a spirit of pleating, and substantive angles, clear with the oversized jackets with their sash-like collar. Stunning use of fabrics and of course angles.

KAYIKO

Founded by Karin Oèbster who presents limited editions of collections through the luxury label, Kayiko. This Vienna-based design company’s mantra of “Less is more”; their collection brings forth a whimsical perspective buoyed by what can see as a nautical theme. The incredible hats can easily be easily be seen right at home atop some fabulous art connoisseur at a gallery opening in Soho, New York.  The silhouette screams avant-garde and can easily be adopted by some groovy Tokyo hipster.

Meam by Ricardo Preto

Preto studied architecture in Lisbon Spain, and then followed up with an apprenticeship in a handbag workshop at St. Martins School of Arts in London U.K. . Through the years, he has become renowned for his accessories design, working with various designers including Dino Alves and with the Spanish brand, Perteguaz. Preto also collaborated with a number of multi-national companies including Levi’s, Nike and Miss Sixty. This season he tells a tale of a chic urban dweller telling his fashion story with a fury of fun lines, plaid and prints and in other instances where just a solid grey polishing off with a clean white border does the trick. Hues that are calm and cool like the gorgeous robin’s egg blue V-neck, or hot and haute seen in his burnt orange printed pieces, Preto simply sizzled the Vienna runways.

Rama Diaw

“Fil Rouge”

The world is Rama’s oyster. Rama Diaw hails from Saint Louis, a multi-cultural city in North Senegal and has been designing since she was a child.   She uses her travels as inspiration for her Fall/Winter 2013 collection as well as increasing her brand awareness of her wax textile work from her homeland of North Senegal. Her travels also opened her eyes to sustainable development and Diaw developed a line of accessories created by women from a nearby village in North Senegal and re-using spare parts of textiles. Her incredible use of print, and with billowing silhouettes adds that extra global punch to the overall Fall/Winter storyboard.

Rozbara Couture

Born in Helsinki and having studied fashion design in Prague, Bratislava, Nicosia and London UK you can see Richard Rozbora’s style influence of each city in his designs. His influences can be cultures of Russia, Asia and Scandinavia from his childhood or by design icons such as Gianfranco Ferré, Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood with whom he attended an international workshop at her studio in London. He founded Rozbora with his brother Robert Rozbora and their mantra is “elegant city-style” and combines materials as silk, muslin, cashmere, crepe de chine and lace with artful patterns that have an undeniable global appeal, all created in their studio in Bratislava.
