Colombia’s retail powerhouse presents an urban edge to the Medellin runway.

One of the leading Latin American fashion brands held their Fall/Winter 2013 at ColombiaModa 2013 as part of Colombia Fashion Week in Medellin, Colombia. Studio F. has captured the next gen’s fashionable spirit and continues to expand its retail presence in the Latin American world. Studio F.’s Fall/Winter 2013 storyboard brought to light a superbly slick urban edginess buoyed by the rocker’s beat on the runway. A sublime line which would be fearlessly coveted by a present-day Elvira Hancock – Tony Montana’s girl from Scarface. That’s right, we aren’t in Kansas (or Miami) anymore. Revved up by the fabulous presentation, I went backstage and chatted with behind Studio F.’s style gurus, Creative Director Victoriano Simone and jean designer Luigi who gave us his take on Colombian fashion scene and its fashion fearlessness. *Scroll below for complete runway photographs*
I did not know about Studio F until I got here. It’s fantastic. Love your collection is naturally edgy.
Thank you so much!
What is your inspiration for this particular look.
It’s a combination of the Punk movement from the 80s, the romantic style of the bohemian gypsy in Paris. It’s a mix of all of those things.
What inspires you. Is it music? The people?
Music is a great communicator for fashion.
Who do you see as your competition?
Victoriano[ laughs]: We don’t have competition
Luigi: We are very Latin.
What do you hope we will learn from Colombian Fashion Week?
Victoriano: They have a passion for Studio F clothing. Also, Luigi makes the jeans. You won’t see any jeans like this anywhere. They fit perfectly.
How different are Latin American fashion and women from rest of world.
Victoriano & Luigi: It’s more sexy. Women here are always surprising. They are always taking fashion risks. More adventurous in fashion. They take more risks.
