Riga, Latvia

From this Thursday (04.10) to Saturday (06.10), people go absolutely crazy for all things Latvian.

Riga is super proud of its local fashion and art, therefore the aim of Riga Fashion Mood 2012 is to popularize, as well as to support Latvian creative and talented young fashion designers, fashion-centric aspirers and other bright personalities with exquisite taste and excellent values.

On Thursday, Riga Fashion Mood 2012 took place at shopping centre SPICE – the big opening night!

Techno music, stimulating beverages, endless surprises, and did I mention themed gift baskets? Such a quality moment, one of a kind!

Almost two hours of pure enjoyment and frantic excitement.

Reinis Ratnieks un Daiga Zvirgzdina – Fashion patriots

Brand new designer collaboration. A fearless combination of indomitable spirit and goth glamour. Hottest trend so far – skull print, and, apparently, there is no possible alternative to royal black.

Liva Saule – It’s not a secret anymore?

Liva presented truly remarkable collection “My Secret Life.”  Besides secret sharing, there is a simple concept behind its complex design, – look like a badass, as brutal as you can imagine; draped blazer, belted rider jacket (with multitude of uses and purposes), stylish embroidered tunic, loose fake leather trousers, will do the trick.

Edite Treija – Only the horses…

Bohemian melancholy and blissful romanticism. Designer, Edite Treija with her collection “Kalitan” undoubtedly, stole the show. My eyes adore!

“Actually, Kalitan came to me in a peculiar way. I already had the concept in my mind – a horse as a symbol of creative liberty and purification – but I was still looking for a title”, says Treija.

“One day my 9 year-old daughter Bernadeta made her own musical instrument: a painted shoe box with few strings and a name KALITAN written on it. When I asked her why Kalitan, she said – well, it just popped up in my mind. I did a research myself, and it turned out that Kalitan happened to be an outstanding American Thoroughbred racehorse who had won many races back in its time, I guess it was the beginning of 20th century…”

Soul and spirit cleansing – is the Kalitan’s fundamental sense. Catharsis, at some point.  In order to get to the light, you have to fight the darkness: karma, all the way, my dears!

Besides showing collections from 15 Latvian designers, Riga Fashion Mood will also host Latvian fashion pop up street with designs by more than 35 Latvian designers, available for sale soon.

All things considered, October is going to be uber-stylish!
