Tapu Javeri

“Tapulicious”

This photographer-turned-designer always had an eye for the utmost detail in the objects that surround him. His latest ensemble of prints, bags and scarfs are all part of his “Tapulicious” collection, which turned to the architectural history of Pakistan’s port city of Karachi for style inspiration. Photos are then transformed into what can be seen as wearable pieces of art. Tapulicious also included mini capsule collections by his fellow designers including Sadaf Malaterre — classic KaraChakra Scarf prints; Adnan Padesey — Monochromatic Pixelated Karachi prints; Wardha Saleem — Sepia Buildings with Gun & Roses prints and Rizwan Beyg — Twisted KaraChakra. Tapu himself delved into the world of shocking sepia and the boldness of the print to really drive his style narrative.

Nickie Nina

“Swinging Byzantium”

Just like the name suggests, this collection encapsulates the spirit of the Byzantine and Medieval eras with a solid dash of the 60s Mod movement. Fantastic use of various fabrics and embellishments really make this collection stand out. Most notably, are the cocktail dresses with Mod-like hemlines giving the style savvy clientele more opportunities to take in the fashionable frivolity that this fashion house presented.

Rizwan Beyg

“Rangg”

A stalwart in the Pakistan fashion scene, this renowned designer boasted a kaleidoscope of colours and artistic approaches in this collection. Each piece was hand-made by local artisans using reflective paper and nickel sheeting with flora and fauna motifs, which are classic themes in various Pakistani artistry and design.  Colours were liberally used, over 20 of them in fact.  The frill and pleat work can’t be ignored and let’s not ignore the incredible handbags and the stunning footwear (those boots!!),  which just gives the overall collection that added Prêt punch.
