The fashion scene in Argentina sizzled at Buenos Aires Fall/Winter 2013 collections. Here are a few cool lines that we want to wear…now!

Marianna Dappiano

“Refracted”

Her collection is inspired by “fractals” a mathematically based philosophy of geometric shapes and corresponding equations is the basis of her Fall/Winter collection. Her love for the Bohemian touch is well displayed here in gorgeous layers of chiffon, jacquard and viscose pieces. The rich use of hues such as lavender, eggplant and combinations, which include pops of royal blue, hot pink and yellow, add to the playfulness of this particular line. Silhouettes are soft and romantic. Adding a sense of modernity with its clean lines.

Paula Ledesma

“Guerreras” (Warriors)

This noted knitwear designer used the idea of a “timeless warrior within a fantasy world” where her creations comprised of various luxurious materials including alpaca wool; merino, cashmere, angora and mohair displayed certain freshness to the overall knitwear scene. From fantastic silhouettes and the use of colour and texture each piece could itself be a stand-alone work of art.

Kostüme

Their collection boasts contrasts in all forms. From structure, to silhouette to materials used. The designers, Camila Milessi and Emiliano Blanco present a somewhat futuristic tone with their colour palette (which according to the designers serves as the “protagonists” in this collection) combined with asymmetrical lines and wonderfully offbeat compositions using a combination of leather, wool, and cotton, viscose and silk.

Quier

“Fragto”

Specifically designed for “Women who have an ethical awareness of the creative and the media atmosphere” Quier (Any) uses the beauty of combining various fragments of life as their basis for this collection. Fragments include researching their own immigrant heritage, exploring the various socio-economic living conditions, urban dwellings and human adaptation to their environments. It’s the contrast of one to the other, which fuels the creative process.  Their creations of their clothing as well as their accessories including the cool bags all have a deep philosophical mindset of the designers. The fantastic ruching treatment, straight lines have a very modern feel to it. Something, which you could easily see, can be worn on the streets of Rosario as well as New York.

Visentini

“Cyclothymia”

Designer Agustina Visentini used this collection as a way of showcasing an overload of abstract and subjective views of the designer’s personal life story where spirituality is key. A juxtaposition of varying perspectives including personal journey, in the context of her current social surroundings is used to create this colourful collection, which has a very urban feel. Fantastic use of colours and fabrics including shantung, taffeta, Italian boucle, chenille and silk chiffon gives this collection a fashion forward motion.
