Last night on Thursday June 13, 2013, the entire production team, designers, friends and supporters of PLDT Canada Philippine Fashion Week ventured up to slightly north of Toronto to relish in some delicious Filipino food, fabulous conversation making it the perfect way to celebrate the week’s festivities. A chance as well to put their feet up and chill before Friday’s big gala.

The famous eatery, Max’s of Manila is a globally renowned brand founded in Manila in 1945 with outlets across The Phlippines and one in California USA. This Toronto boîte fits perfectly for this VIP evening. They are also one of the main sponsors of PLDT Canada Philippine Fashion Week.

Everyone from the CFPW world including Filipina Supermodel, Ria Bolivar (who actually was fresh from a fashion shoot she did earlier that day) along with some of the CPFW designers, Brian MaristelaJon De Porter, Norman Noriega, John Ablaza and Kenneth Barlis. Paolo Abella, director of Jose Rizal, The First Hero – which had its world premiere the night before — as well as that  film’s leading actor, Giovanni Vincente also came by. And one can not miss the always elegant, Melinda Rustia, President of Kol Hope Foundation For Children.

Everyone relaxed, chatted, connected and reconnected over San Miguel beer and an endless buffett featuring classic Filipino dishes. A much needed break from the week’s hustle and bustle, a perfect lead-in to Friday’s (tonight’s)  main event, CPFW presents Gala Premiere: Fashion’s Biggest Night.

This evening  is where The Philippines and Canada’s most iconic designers including John Ablaza, Francis Libiran, Noel Crisostomo, Roland Alzate, Leonard Co, Brian Maristela and Norman Noriega will showcase their incredible collections in a full runway show set to take place at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall. In addition to that, 14 top Philippine fashion designers in Pistahan De Couture, as well as Project Terno, where Canadian designers were asked to  put their own unique spin on the famous butterfly sleeved dress, which will be showcased in a special exhibit preceding the fashion show.
