Adriana Santacruz presented her Fall/Winter 2013 collection as part of Colombia Moda 2013. Here at Ramp 1885 we always try to highlight designers who best represent the variety as well as fashion sensibilities that make them unique to their geographic location and cultural disposition. Here with Santacruz it was clear that we needed to ensure her inclusion in our highlights.
Her collection entitled “Lightning” possessed an incredible array of colours and textures all harking to the cultural weave that seamlessly permeates throughout Colombia and South America as a whole.
Comprised of 29 looks, “Lightening” was in the making for six months and as part of Santacruz’s hallmark of design, she relied on the skilled hands of artisans from indigenous regions of Nariño and Aldana, Colombia and from Tufiño, Ecuador.
In the collection uses such robust colours as, green, terracotta, fuchsia and black. The range of hues were deliberately chosen as they are “associated with everything that has to do with the lightning: color, design, flash, strength, great strength, great power,” says Adriana, who used different techniques such as ‘loom Horizontal and vertical’ and ‘colored by moorings’.
“My dream has been fulfilled, I see colors and beauty, movement in my dreams,” concluded Santacruz.
